Everyone plans for Keukenhof, and it's genuinely worth the visit. But the real spectacle is the open countryside around Lisse and the Bollenstreek, where the fields themselves stretch to the horizon in solid bands of colour.
We cycled a quiet polder lane with fields on both sides — no queue, no ticket, just colour as far as we could see.
A bicycle is the right tool here. The flat, well-marked paths let you cover real distance between fields, and a windmill or canal town always seems to turn up right when you need a coffee break.
Bloom dates shift with the weather each year, so we hold final routing until closer to departure to make sure you land in the middle of it.
